Who are Step?
Step is the St Albans and Harpenden Christian Education Project and we are a charity made up of a core staff team and volunteers from numerous local churches (click here if you are interested in joining us as a volunteer). We work in secondary schools in a number of ways such as lessons, assemblies, supporting Christian Unions, running social action projects, delivering courses, mentoring and much more. You can find out further details about what we do by visiting the Schools section or following the link below.
What are our aims?
Step aims to share, through words and actions, the Christian faith in a lively, relevant and consistent way. We want to provide opportunities for churches and local Christians to connect with their local secondary school and make a positive difference to the lives of the young people and staff.
We have a connection with over 30 local churches, who either provide financial/prayer support, volunteers and/or we have a link with their youth work. We also closely partner with The 267 Project and The Gideons.
Step has been on a long journey since we were formed over 20 years ago. We have a vast amount of experience in the field of Christian schools work so we also believe part of our vision is to equip others on a similar journey. We currently offer encouragement, resources and strategic support to
