Challenging Stress with St George's Yr12

I wonder how far you’d be willing to stretch an elastic band? The students at St George’s rose to the challenge. Some were brave enough to stretch it to 76cm, others cautiously stopped at 35cm.

We have an amazing capacity to handle stress and strain but wisdom and life experience shows us that we can only stretch so far before we snap back.  The Step team challenged the students to become aware of their own stress limits and more importantly how to balance their energy reserves so that they can remain flexible when added strain is placed on them.

One student in particular said that they hadn’t actually written down what they notice when they are overstretched before, but having had the space to do this they appreciated how much pressure they can handle. They also reflected that they didn’t really know how to bring slack back into their lives when they did have to live in a time of pressure like exam season. Our next activities helped them to come up with a handful of things.

The two activities were a bucket fuelling exercise and a life scan. These two tools are ways to become more mindful of what you need to be the best version of you.

What a privilege it is to speak with honesty about the reality of our human limitations but at the same time affirm that we were created to flourish, thrive and live life to the full!.

There are more of these sessions happening next week so do pray for these wonderful Yr 12s and our Step team!

Blessings,

Charlotte
