The Residential Experience

In the last week I have had the amazing opportunity to spend time away with two very different groups of young people on two separate residential experiences. One group were year 7 and the other year 12. We stayed in two beautiful locations, one being the wonderful Kintbury Experience and the other was the fantastic Phasels Wood Activity Centre.

Youth residential retreats offer a unique blend of spiritual growth, community bonding, and personal development that set them apart as exceptional memorable experiences. These retreats provide a sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle of daily life, allowing participants to immerse themselves in a supportive environment conducive to reflection and growth.

On both residential experiences we had the privilege to participate with young people in their journey of personal formation. The students experienced a myriad of activities which build their confidence, sense of self and awareness of others. They also engaged in worship, prayer, and simple, applicable reflections from the bible, enabling attendees deepen their understanding of their faith and cultivate a stronger relationship with God. The whole experience is enhanced by the retreat setting, surrounded by nature's beauty, provides a serene backdrop for spiritual exploration and connection with the divine.

It is amazing to see the students emerge from these residential retreats empowered to make a positive impact in their communities and live out their faith in tangible ways. I love it that residential retreats provide a holistic experience that nourishes the mind, body, and spirit. They offer a safe haven for all young people to grow spiritually, build meaningful connections, and develop into confident, compassionate leaders poised to make a difference in the world. We are already planning several for next year and also looking to mix it up and take groups of them from several different schools all at the same time.

If this sounds like a fun way to spend your week and you want to get paid to do it, or if you know someone who would be great with young people, why not take a look at our careers page, as we are recruiting and looking for someone to come and work with young people and us.
