What makes you angry?

I wonder what makes you angry?

During the latest week of our Tough Stuff course we ask the students this very question. Anger is an emotion we all feel at one time or another and few of us link this emotion to loss in a positive light.

A powerful moment during this week was when one student bursts the balloon we had inflated. Seeing the balloon inflate when we talked about the scenarios that made the group angry was a helpful visual for our discussion. We discussed as a group how the build up of anger can often reach 'pop‘ point and cause a reaction to something unrelated to our original anger.

As the student powerfully popped the balloon, we reflected on the things that happen when our anger overflows.

If you are unaware of the Tough Stuff course, it is 5-weeks long and designed to enable young people to explore loss and grief in relation to bereavement or parental separation. It covers denial, anger, bargaining, depression and hope. We would like to offer this course in more schools in our area and are keen to know of any people who would like to journey with young people through these topics.

Please get in touch with us if you are interested in joining a future course or exploring the course further.
