Work Experience Returns

Last week we were joined by an amazing Year 11 student from Sandringham, who was our first work experience student since the pandemic.

He fully embraced the week, getting enthusiastically involved in everything from teaching parts of lessons, creating lesson resources and reorganising our storeroom to helping with Feed collections in school and working in their warehouse to see what happens to the items once they have been donated. One highlight was teaching a group of Year 8s about hope, belief and trust using a clip about Blondin, a tightrope walker who performed stunts across the Niagara Falls (see photo). Would you ‘hop in’ the wheelbarrow and be pushed across?

As an organisation that works with young people all the time, we love having them in the office where we can invest in them for a significant period of time. We also have someone from Verulam joining us in a couple of weeks, but if you know anyone who would like to choose Step as their placement, please get in touch with us or ask their school.
