Haven at Vineyard

Last week Step launched a Haven Course at Vineyard, this has been in the pipeline for a while now and it is so exciting to see it begin.

Haven is a course that provides support for young people with the aim of reducing the life-limiting effects if problematic anxiety. It is a course we run in a lot of our schools across St Albans and Harpenden, and we are now excited to be offering it, in the context of an after-school club. Our hope is that once the course has finished, we will still meet every month for a Haven Local where anyone who has completed the course can come to top-up their toolkit and speak with people experiencing similar things to them. There is already a thriving Haven Local in Harpenden, to find out more about it please follow this link - https://www.thehaven.uk/local

Week 1 was a Introductory Week which gave the group of six time to get to know each other, which feels particularly important given there is a mixture of 4 different youth groups from various churches. We looked at the outline of the course, thinking about what topics and tools we’ll be looking at over the course. We played some very competitive games of Uno which created a lot of laughter along with answering the question ‘If you were given 10 million pounds but could only spend it on things that started with the first letter of your name, what would you buy?”

We are so excited to see how Haven is going to impact these young people’s lives. Do be praying for us as we meet on Tuesday and look at the first tool that can help them to manage their anxiety.
