Retreat to Advance

Retreat to Advance

Last week I had a wonderful opportunity to accompany the Katherine Warington year 7 students on their residential trip. With about 160 young people attending and 4 coaches to take them to the Manor Adventure centre we set off to Norfolk with plenty of cheer and chatter.

It was a full-on program designed to build relationships across year 7 between staff and students and with me there, STEP as well, I was made to feel very welcome and it was lovely to spend some time getting to know the staff team much better and becoming more familiar with many of the year 7’s whom we had first met on our Primary Step Up days earlier in the Summer.

In particular it was great to see the 10 young people who had recently started attending the Haven course in KWS, and give them some praise and encouragement as I saw them undertaking activities such as caving, rock climbing, canoeing, fencing and puzzle solving. By the end of the 3 days I really felt like part of the team and better placed to continue to share faith back in school through our many activities and lessons there.
